La organización Internacional LEON Foundation  con sede en California – Estados Unidos , presidida  por  la  Dra. JOYCE  LEON – GOMEZ   hizo  entrega   el  día  28 de Noviembre del 2012   un total de 20 computadoras  completando  lo ofrecido  como DONACIÓN a la Institución Educativa “Juan Pablo II” de la Localidad de  Moron , Distrito  de Chaclacayo , en Lima – Perú .

Con la presencia de autoridades  educativas   como  el  Lic.  Víctor  Cueva  en representación del Director de la UGEL Nº  06  de  Ate – Vitarte  y   con la presencia  del  Alcalde del Distrito , Don  Alfredo Valcárcel   Cahen  en una  ceremonia  realizada  en  el  patio de la Institución Educativa  la Dra. Joyce  Leon – Gomez  acompañada  de su Directorio  realizó  la  entrega  al  Director  del colegio Lic. Marcelo del Carpio  completando las 20 computadoras , designadas  para  el  Laboratorio de Computación denominado hoy LEON FOUNDATION.

En ésta  ceremonia organizada   por  los  docentes  , alumnos y padres de familia  se desarrollo  un Programa  con la participación de los alumnos con diferentes  danzas típicas del Peru , así  como  también se realizó  la  entrega  de  premios  a los alumnos  ganadores de los concursos :”Salud y Medio Ambiente” y “ La  Matemática en la Historia del Perú” asesorados  por  los  Profesores  Eduardo Hinostroza Veliz  y Edwin Miller Torres  ambos de la I.E Juan Pablo II .

Los  alumnos  beneficiarios en un Total de 20  alumnos  se hicieron  acreedores  de  Un Certificado, Dólares en efectivo  y  Cámaras Fotográficas , cada  premio  auspiciado por la Fundación . También  05  alumnos  integrantes  de  la  Brigada  Escolar  recibieran sus diplomas de reconocimiento el dia 19 de Diciembre del 2012..

De igual forma  recibieron  sus diplomas  de  reconocimiento los Profesores  :  Jhony  Quispe  Reyes , Walter  Otero Pino , Carmen Julia Ayala , Enma  Mamani  Pilloca , por su apoyo  en la Institución Educativa .

El  Lic. Eduardo Hinostroza Veliz;  Lic. Edwin Miller  Torres Damas y el Director Marcelo Del Carpio  recibieron  una  Placa  de  Reconocimiento  por  su  labor  desplegada  durante  el  año  2012 .

La  Presidenta  de LEON  Foundation   habiendo  reconocido la labor de los Lic. Eduardo Hinostroza y  el  Lic.  Miller  Torres  fueron  invitados  para  ser  parte  del  Directorio  de  LEON Foundation y  ser  representantes de la  Fundación en el Perú  , lo cual fue aceptado por ambos  docentes  recibiendo  sus  Credenciales  en los siguientes  cargos : Lic. Edwin Miller Torres  Damas : Director  de  Comunicaciones  y Lic. Eduardo Hinostroza  Véliz  :  Director  de  Proyectos.

Ante  esta  designación  como  colaboradores  de  la  Fundación y por el magnífico trabajo realizado durante el periodo 2011-2012 al servicio de los niños del Peru , ambos  docentes  recibieron  como  estimulo  una  LAPTOP ;  acto que se agradece a los integrantes de la fundación  en especial  a la Dra. Joyce Leon – Gomez  por  este valioso estimulo .

Acto  seguido  hubo participación  y  palabras  de  agradecimiento  por  parte del director del colegio  Marcelo  del  Carpio  y palabras de elogio  del Alcalde  de Chaclacayo  Alfredo  Valacarcel Cahen  hacia  el trabajo y apoyo social  desplegada  por  la Dra. Joyce León – Gómez.

Próximos  a cumplir  50  AÑOS  de  creación la I.E Juan Pablo II recibe  esta  donación  en mérito a la labor de  los docentes   en beneficio de los alumnos  quienes  harán  uso  de  estos  equipos  de  cómputo  y pondrán en marcha el plan de trabajo tecnológico para mejorar sus conocimientos  y estar  acorde  con los  avances  de  la  tecnología .

Después  de  trabajar  el  2011 – 2012  en nuestra Institución Educativa Juan Pablo II , La Dra.  Joyce  León  continua ampliando  su  cobertura  de  apoyo  social  a otras  Instituciones Educativas.

SEMINARIO AUSPICIADO POR LEON FOUNDATION

Altamente Valorado fue el Seminario sobre el Uso de la Tecnologia Para Desarrollar un Proyecto de Investigacion El dia 17 de Diciembre del presente año, se inauguro en la ciudad de Chaclacayo, Lima,Peru, la !V Jornada de Docentes-2012 de la I. E. No 1199 Mariscal Ramon Castilla, con el Seminario “Uso de la Tecnologia para Desarrollar un Programa de Investigacion,” auspiciada por LEON Foundation y a cargo de la Fundadora y Presidenta de LEON Foundation, Dra. Joyce Leon-Gomez, con el apoyo de la UGEL No 6 de Ate Vitarte, Lima.

Este Seminario tiene como objetivo, brindar una informacion objetiva con el intercambio de experiencia que le permita a los maestros del colegio M.R.C. de Chaclacayo, desarrollar un proyecto de investigacion y la aplicacion de los instrumentos necesarios para obtener resultados eficaces con la ayuda de la tecnologia y tambien conocer los avances que se están implementando en países del primer mundo. 

Este enfoque internacional abre las puertas a diferentes aplicaciones prácticas de gran interés y de actualidad para los maestros. En esta ocasión la primera parte del Seminario estuvo a cargo de la Fundadora y Presidenta de LEON Foundation, Dra. Joyce Leon-Gomez, el tema central fue: “Conocer la vision-mision y proposito de LEON Foundation y una amplia informacion sobre la elaboracion de un proyecto de investigacion. 

La segunda parte estuvo a cargo del Director de Proyectos de LEON Foundation, Licenciado Eduardo Hinostroza y el Director de Comunicaciones, de LEON Foundation, Licenciado Miller Torres con las experiencias vividas durante los proyectos de investigacion 2011-2012 en el Colegio Juan Pablo II de Moron y la participacion voluntaria de los maestros del M.R. C. con algunos proyectos que se vienen desarrollando en el aula de esa institucion. La calificacion del Seminario se obtendra presentando un Proyecto de Investigacion impreso a ser entregado el 28 de Diciembre del 2012, a las 8 AM dia en que sera entregado el Certificado aprobado por la UGEL No 6 de Ate Vitarte con 120 horas validas para el curriculum.

El evento fue un gran exito y altamente valorado por los 80 participantes debido a la calidad de los temas seleccionados y de los oradores, asi como tambien conto con el apoyo de la Licenciada Elizabeth Mayhua Ninahuanca y estudiantes de 5to de secundaria que se encargaron de preparar el refrigerio para los asistentes. La Moderacion del evento estuvo a cargo del Sub-Director Pedagocico de Secundaria del colegio M.R.C., Licenciado Uber Crisostomo Rojas y la Coordinacion General del evento a cargo de Licenciado Alejandro Parraga.

The Founder and President of Leon Foundation, Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez, is very thankful to the Principal of Mariscal Ramon Castilla School, Licenciada Victoria Llacsa Sotomayor, Sub-Director Uber Honorio Crisostomo Rojas, and Licenciado Alejandro Parraga Panez, for the invitation to visit their school on December 10, 2012 and to attended the School festival organized by the students. Mariscal Ramon Castilla School is a low income school with a population of 1,500 students in Chaclacayo-Peru.

 Licenciado Edwin Miller Torres Damas has been appointed the Communications Director of LEON Foundation, with representation in Peru. Licenciado Torres, who has a Master in Education from a Peruvian University, and an extensive background in

 education, was selected after supporting the foundation during 2011-2012 in several investigation programs. He will lead in Peru expanding efforts to communicate the foundation’s strengths and mision on a national and global level. 

Licenciado Torres is without question the right person to lead this critical effort in the years to come and I am glad that he is join our organization. In his role as Communications Director, Licenciado Torres, will oversee the Office of Communications in Peru, which includes news and information, marketing, multimedia, internet and media communication.

It is my pleasure to introduce the Licenciado Eduardo Hinostroza Veliz as the PROJECT DIRECTOR of the LEON Foundation with representation in PERU. Licenciado Hinostroza has a Master in Education with an extensive curriculum and professional

development for 22 years. While he pursued a carrer in Education, he was very much involved to help students and schools to succeed. As General Coordinator of LEON Foundation Projects in Peru during 2011-2012 he did an outstanding job. I am delighted that Licenciado Eduardo Hinostroza have so warmly embraced the education service.

Muchas gracias a la Gerente General de Radio Santisimo Sacramento 1240 AM, Lorena Albarran y al Director del programa Alma Joven, Juan Carlos Paredes por recibir a la delegacion de LEON Foundation esta manana en el programa Cafe, Pan y Fe dirigido por Lorena. 

La Presidenta de LEON Foundation, Dra. Joyce Leon-Gomez, acompanada de dos de sus directores voluntarios  expreso su mas profundo agradecimiento a Lorena y a Juan Carlos por todo el apoyo y disponibilidad de ayuda recibido a traves de todas las entrevistas ofrecidas durante este 2012. 
Cuando se realiza una labor social como la que LEON Foundation viene realizando, que es la de brindar tecnologia a los colegios de bajos recursos economicos para apoyar la educacion de los ninos peruanos, el esfuerzo se hace mas llevadero si existen personas que brindan su apoyo en el camino como lo han hecho estos dos grandes amigos Lorena y Juan Carlos.

s economicos a traves de la tecnologia es la mision de LEON Foundation. 

Esta tecnologia esta poniendo al alcance de estos estudiantes las grandes posibilidades que esta ofrece, asi como el gran poder de comunicacion que origina con otros. Esto hace que una computadora se convierta en una herramienta ideal a la hora de transmitir conocimiento, claro esta bajo la guia y supervision del profesor para ofrecer grandes posibilidades en el ambito de la ensenanza.

Nos complace saber que las computadoras donadas al Colegio Juan Pablo II en el 2011 estan siendo aprovechadas por los estudiantes como otro medio innovador que los apoya en sus cursos academicos, en el aprendizaje diario y a distancia, y en el curriculum que dicho colegio esta aplicando en el area de la computacion beneficiando a todos sus alumnos.

Although only working with the LEON Foundation as the Marketing Director for about 6 months, this experience has already had a profound impact on my life. During this time I have had the pleasure as well as making a wonderful new acquaintance with our CEO Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez. This experience has been very unique and very educational. 

Our CEO Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez thrives on education in every single way. She has already taught me so much, from basic business etiquette, how to write a press release, to general marketing tools we implement every day to raise awareness of the foundation. I have shared many memories and been granted many opportunities while volunteering with the LEON Foundation, that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Two of my favorite experiences include being interviewed for the first time by Juan Carlos Paredes, Director and host of the Program Young Souls at the radio station Santisimo Sacramento 1240 AM in Sacramento on October 05, 2012, even though I was incredibly nervous!! I felt that I did a good job; as well as to be able to travel to Peru on November 24, 2012 with other representatives of LEON Foundation.

I cannot wait for our trip to Peru as I will finally get to meet all of the students and teachers in person that we have been working very hard to help during 2011-2012. My service and support with the LEON Foundation has been a lot work with social media sites. We try taking many pictures and documenting everything so that we can share these experiences with the public as well as let them know about our up-coming events.

Since I have been with the LEON Foundation we as a team have done so much, we are always looking for the next event we can participate in to help raise awareness of the foundation or to raise money for the foundation. Some events I have had the pleasure of sharing with the LEON Foundation include our participation in the Harrah’s and Harvey’s Century celebrity golf tournament on July 17, 2012, our celebration of Raul A. Leon birthday on July 27, 2012 where some of the members visited his grave, God rest his soul. Also, witnessing the students from Juan Pablo’s hard work in their Health & environment project, our amazing night with Giacome Fiore on August 12, 2012 when he played live classical guitar music for our event. Also one of my favorites was the Third Banana Festival organized by Sojo Arts Foundation on August 18th, 2012 at William Land Park in Sacramento downtown where me and The Public Relations Director of LEON Foundation, Mason Leandro built a wheel of fortune to help draw attention to our booth. It was so much fun out there getting everyone to come visit our booth and let them know about the foundation. 

We were also featured in Zoom Newspaper from Folsom and El Dorado Hills on their September 2012 issue and I was also recognized with a Diploma Award by our Founder-President of LEON Foundation, Dr. Leon-Gomez for raising our social media viewership by seven hundred percent. 

Now, our wonderful night where me and other members of our organization were recognized by Dr. Leon-Gomez, for our service with the LEON Foundation, which I am very grateful and thankful for.

I cannot wait for what is to come with the LEON Foundation, I hope we are able to continue receiving your wonderful support so we can keep assisting and supporting less fortunate children through technology in south American countries.

Leon Foundation Congratulates Shannaleah Shahedi!

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

A very young volunteer has been helping us in all our fundraisers activities at the Leon Foundation. She started at age 15, now she is 

18 years old, this is her last year in high schools and she aspires to go to the medical Schools to have the extraordinary opportunity to create beneficial health care and to have a positive impact on people's lives. I'm speaking of Shannaleah Shahedi . 

She has contributed to the Leon Foundation with a big amount of volunteer hours and she was eligible to received the President's Volunteer Service Award in appreciation to her volunteer service and for making a difference at her young age. Also she received a congratulation letter from President Obama and the President's Volunteer Service Award Bronze level and the President Volunteer Award Silver level. We are very proud to have this young volunteer in our organization. Thank you Shannaleah!!!

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

Leon Foundation wants to recognize a person that gave and still giving hundreds of hours per year helping others through the Leon Found

ation. People who knows him will agree with me that he is truly and inspiration to others and his unconditional support goes beyond expectations. It’s an honor to have him as one of the members of the Advisory Committee of the Leon Foundation.

The current Program called President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by President George W. Bush in 2002. He made this program know during his State of the Union address. In January 2003, President Bush created an Executive Order that created the president Council on Service and Civic participation. The Council was established to recognize the important contributions Americans of all ages are making in communities through service and civil engagement. One of the Awards is presented to volunteers that reach 4000 hours or more. This Award is called “The President’s Call To Service Award” and it is considered the highest Volunteer Award to represent a life time of volunteering. 

It’s an honor for me to present this award from hands of the Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney, to my husband a Colonel of the US ARMY Augustine Gomez. It’s a blessing and a privilege to have Augustine’s unconditional support, commitment and advice helping the foundation in every task small or big.

He will go to Peru on November to attend the donation ceremony at Juan Pablo II school. It’s a pleasure to present the Marketing Director of the Foundation, Nicholas Mathews, that for his valuable volunteer service of dedication and commitment to the Leon Foundation in supporting Peruvian children education, last night in a very special ceremony he received from hands of Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney the President's Volunteer Award Diploma, a Congratulation letter from President Obama and the President's Service Award Bronze level. Also he is receiving a Digital camera to save all the memories and share them with his family and the first Leon Foundation T shirt. Thank you Nick! and Congratulations! We are very proud of you!

I’m very proud of Annette Shahedi, from the beginning of the Leon Foundation creation, she has been my biggest support and being by my

 side when I needed her the most preparing all the activities in San Jose during these three years practically alone. To talk about her it will take the whole day for all the activities and accomplishments that she has been involved and she achieved however, I want to say that her heart is made of gold. There is not a person more committed to help others than her. She is not only supporting the Leon Foundation; every year she takes care of more than 200 homeless in San Jose during the Christmas time. Her volunteer service since 2009 until today exceeds the 1500 hours.

She is the Vice President of the Leon Foundation and last nigh was recognized for her efforts and service and received from hands of Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney the President's Volunteer Award Diploma, a Congratulation letter from President Obama and the President's Volunteer Award Bronze, Silver and Gold level and first Leon Foundation T shirt. Leon Foundation Congratulating Mason Leandro!

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

Persistence and commitment are qualities that few people have, especially when they’re very young however, I found these qualities in a

 young person that in the year 2011 volunteer for one the Leon Foundation fundraiser, first he was a regular volunteer and few months after he was the Assistant President of the Leon Foundation and he supports me especially when I was in Peru donating the first computers donation to Juan Pablo II School. 

For his dedication and commitment I offered him on January 15, 2012 the Public Relations Direction, since there he has been a great help in all our activities, fundraisers and radio presentations. In these two years he has been very supportive and professional, he brought Nick, our Marketing Director to our organization and he has contributed with many volunteer hours. I'm speaking about the Public Relations Director of the Leon Foundation, Mason Leandro. Last nigh, in a very special ceremony he received from hands of Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney, a colonel graduated from West Point, the President's Volunteer Award Diploma, a Congratulation letter from President Obama and the President's Volunteer Award level bronze and the President's Volunteer Award Silver level. Also, he received a Digital camera and the first Leon Foundation T-shirt. Congratulations Mason! We all at the Leon Foundation are very proud of you!!! Thank you very much!!!
