Marketing Director is Very Thankful

http://www.leonfoundation.org

Although only working with the LEON Foundation as the Marketing Director for about 6 months, this experience has already had a profound impact on my life. During this time I have had the pleasure as well as making a wonderful new acquaintance with our CEO Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez. This experience has been very unique and very educational.

Our CEO Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez thrives on education in every single way. She has already taught me so much, from basic business etiquette, how to write a press release, to general marketing tools we implement every day to raise awareness of the foundation. I have shared many memories and been granted many opportunities while volunteering with the LEON Foundation, that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Two of my favorite experiences include being interviewed for the first time by Juan Carlos Paredes, Director and host of the Program Young Souls at the radio station Santisimo Sacramento 1240 AM in Sacramento on October 05, 2012, even though I was incredibly nervous!! I felt that I did a good job; as well as to be able to travel to Peru on November 24, 2012 with other representatives of LEON Foundation.

I cannot wait for our trip to Peru as I will finally get to meet all of the students and teachers in person that we have been working very hard to help during 2011-2012. My service and support with the LEON Foundation has been a lot work with social media sites. We try taking many pictures and documenting everything so that we can share these experiences with the public as well as let them know about our up-coming events.

Since I have been with the LEON Foundation we as a team have done so much, we are always looking for the next event we can participate in to help raise awareness of the foundation or to raise money for the foundation. Some events I have had the pleasure of sharing with the LEON Foundation include our participation in the Harrah’s and Harvey’s Century celebrity golf tournament on July 17, 2012, our celebration of Raul A. Leon birthday on July 27, 2012 where some of the members visited his grave, God rest his soul. Also, witnessing the students from Juan Pablo’s hard work in their Health & environment project, our amazing night with Giacome Fiore on August 12, 2012 when he played live classical guitar music for our event. Also one of my favorites was the Third Banana Festival organized by Sojo Arts Foundation on August 18th, 2012 at William Land Park in Sacramento downtown where me and The Public Relations Director of LEON Foundation, Mason Leandro built a wheel of fortune to help draw attention to our booth. It was so much fun out there getting everyone to come visit our booth and let them know about the foundation.

We were also featured in Zoom Newspaper from Folsom and El Dorado Hills on their September 2012 issue and I was also recognized with a Diploma Award by our Founder-President of LEON Foundation, Dr. Leon-Gomez for raising our social media viewership by seven hundred percent.

Now, our wonderful night where me and other members of our organization were recognized by Dr. Leon-Gomez, for our service with the LEON Foundation, which I am very grateful and thankful for.
I cannot wait for what is to come with the LEON Foundation, I hope we are able to continue receiving your wonderful support so we can keep assisting and supporting less fortunate children through technology in south American countries.

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION
Leon Foundation wants to recognize a person that gave and still giving hundreds of hours per year helping others through the Leon Found
ation. People who knows him will agree with me that he is truly and inspiration to others and his unconditional support goes beyond expectations. It’s an honor to have him as one of the members of the Advisory Committee of the Leon Foundation.
The current Program called President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by President George W. Bush in 2002. He made this program know during his State of the Union address. In January 2003, President Bush created an Executive Order that created the president Council on Service and Civic participation. The Council was established to recognize the important contributions Americans of all ages are making in communities through service and civil engagement. One of the Awards is presented to volunteers that reach 4000 hours or more. This Award is called “The President’s Call To Service Award” and it is considered the highest Volunteer Award to represent a life time of volunteering.
It’s an honor for me to present this award from hands of the Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney, to my husband a Colonel of the US ARMY Augustine Gomez. It’s a blessing and a privilege to have Augustine’s unconditional support, commitment and advice helping the foundation in every task small or big.

With deepest gratitude,

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

I’m very proud of Annette Shahedi, from the beginning of the Leon Foundation creation, she has been my biggest support and being by my
side when I needed her the most preparing all the activities in San Jose during these three years practically alone. To talk about her it will take the whole day for all the activities and accomplishments that she has been involved and she achieved however, I want to say that her heart is made of gold. There is not a person more committed to help others than her. She is not only supporting the Leon Foundation; every year she takes care of more than 200 homeless in San Jose during the Christmas time. Her volunteer service since 2009 until today exceeds the 1500 hours.

She is the Vice President of the Leon Foundation and last nigh was recognized for her efforts and service and received from hands of Colonel US ARMY Bill Delaney the President's Volunteer Award Diploma, a Congratulation letter from President Obama and the President's Volunteer Award Bronze, Silver and Gold level and first Leon Foundation T shirt. LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

Persistence and commitment are qualities that few people have, especially when they’re very young however, I found these qualities in a

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

Leon Foundation Third Year Anniversary

LEON FOUNDATION THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD AND DINER at LEON FOUNDATION

It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all to this Third Year Anniversary of the Leon Foundation, the Presidential Volunteer Award
Ceremony and the Dinner to mark the completion of this third year of supporting Peruvian children education. This third anniversary is a proof that we are in the right direction. Our third anniversary shows that we are different that we were before; we are creating new opportunities for Peruvian children, enjoying our work, innovating schools with new approaches and ideas, and dreaming that with our help more less fortunate children of Peru will have better opportunities in life.

We are developing investigation projects internationally with schools such us Juan Pablo II. Of course, to do all this, we are organizing events, fundraisers, activities, and educational programs such is the case of Peru and gathering many people to participate with their donations and volunteer support. Leon Foundation in these three years has been very proud of all its members with who I had and have the privilege to work with. As the head of the Leon Foundation I demand quality as standard and it’s a blessing to work with a group of people that want the same, they want to be different, they respect each other, they stand together and they believe in good, their expectation are very high and most of all their desire for service is what motivates them for participation and to make a difference in people’s life and without thinking they are making a difference in their own life.

Many thanks go to you from all of us, the ones that are here today and the ones supporting us on our path. Without you, we could not do what we have done so far. Without you we would not be as we are, always optimistic and ready to do our best, even when it is the hardest.

When I look deep into the eyes of every person that is working with me, I know why I can fall asleep in peace at night. Because what ones call work, we can call it creation. Leon Foundation is our creation, and working with people who understand what the values are and why a person needs to do good and to support others, and why Leon Foundation is much more than just an organization. It is a mission, which I hope will be passed form hands to hands of future generations. Leon Foundation together, we are helping, and connecting Peru with USA, building bridges between young generations that simply believe in a better future for all.
We will be releasing an annual Report at the end of the year to presents an objective statement of what we have achieved in the foundation over the year 2012.

I will be the first to say we need to do better. But let no one doubt that we have achieved much. I will highlight tonight some of our achievements in the past three years starting saying that from 2009 until today we have helped more than 900 Peruvian students.

The foundation was founded on October 06, 2009, we are a nonprofit organization established under the 503c1 in CA. In the year 2010 we made our first donation to the La Cena del Senor Church in a poor community in Peru called Santa Anita. We helped 320 students to enrich their education through technology.

In the year 2011 we started working with the Juan Pablo II School in a project that we called A dream come true, a two years project divided in two phases, During the first phase students at Juan Pablo participated in the investigation project Sponsored by Leon Foundation called Knowing my district. This investigation program opened the door to students to get deep information and to care more about the community where they are living. We rewarded participating students and also the teachers. On November 16, 2011 the school received the first 10 computers donation and all the necessary tools to implement their Computer lab that will help 520 students to improve their skills in technology. I personally traveled to Peru to make this donation and that year I created a volunteer Health Brigade formed by 13 students from Juan Pablo to work in the 2012 investigation project.

This 2012 we have been continue working with Juan Pablo School in another investigation project called “Health and Environment in my community” this investigation project involved 75 students from 4 and 5 grade of secondary starting on April 1 and ending on August 1st 2012. Students submitted their papers and Leon Foundation selected the best 7 from these 75 students. Also we sponsored the 3rd grade of secondary with another investigation project called Math in the History of Peru. Leon Foundation has selected five best papers to be awarded on November 28.

On November 28 , 2012 Juan Pablo II School will receive the second computer donation to complete the 20 computers the school needs to offer technological instruction to its 520 students. This project 2011-2012 was done with a lot of participation from the Peruvian students, teachers that guided them and supervise the 13 volunteers formed in the year 2011. This was a real team work between people in Peru and us in USA.

We accomplished all this in three years thanks to the valuable support on my staff, Board of Directors, sponsors, family, friends, neighbors, business from San Jose and Sacramento and supporters around the world and volunteers.

Thank you very much to all!

Very Sincerely,

Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez
