Leon Foundation Works for Peruvian Children

It’s a privilege to do our work at the LEON Foundation, and we're very grateful to the more than 45 talented, compassionate and dedicated people whose efforts make our programs possible. And while we are proud of what we’ve accomplished wit
h the support of family, friends, neighbors, businesses and individuals from around the world, we have not yet met our ultimate goal: to support all low income schools to improve children education in Peru and to expand to all South America.

Peru is a country with an amazing ethnicity, cultural and economic diversity. However, in terms of education and communication, it continues to be a challenge in many of its communities.

Poverty is one of their causes. Peruvian children that attending low income schools have less possibilities to grow and develop a bright future. LEON Foundation is providing computers to low income schools to support children education and to give assistance and professional training to high school students, providing them with the necessary tools to contribute to a better education and to a better future and to reduce the number of students without access to technology. LEON Foundation programs contain the following key elements such as the developing of investigation, research and new skills in young students, the use of computers and networking with their community, and assisting students with the collaboration of Peruvian teachers after school hours to develop these new skills, also fostering dialogue, communication and interaction with the world.

We are very happy to announce that our entire project for the 2012 that you help make possible will be a reality for Peruvian children. LEON Foundation has turn good intention into measurable results with your support. Thank you very much to our Founder and President, Dr. Joyce Leon-Gomez for her diligent work and leadership, to family, friends, neighbors, businesses from San Jose and Sacramento, volunteers and all of you in general for supporting our mission and goals: which is to bring technology to less fortunate Peruvian children “Giving Hope With Your Help.”
Thank you very much,

Thank You All

It is my pleasure to provide you the information that captures the work done by the Leon Foundation Projects in 2012. Such volume and quantity of accomplishments is only possible through the diligent efforts of the Leon Foundation’s staff, the enduring support from the Leon Foundation Board of Directors, and the essential and growing involvement and contributions from family, friends, volunteers and community. Although our endeavors in 2012 may qualify as exceptional we’re particularly proud of our invigorated support to the community of Moron-Peru with the implementation of the computer laboratory for Juan Pablo II School, our work with teachers in the Department of Education at Juan Pablo II School, to launched the project “Mathematics in the History of Peru” for 3rd grade high school students and to develop a plan for the “Health and Environment ” project supporting critical thinkers and future leaders of 4th and 5th grade of secondary. The creation of a Health Brigade to cultivate middle and high school students’ appreciation for the place where they study, and they live, for civic engagement and community service on their path to adulthood.
Thank you to all who make it possible for us to realize our vision of a world where people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and ideologies engage in mindful and collaborative dialogue through respectful and engaged discussion-based programs.

Technology and Education Reform

Book recommended by LEON Foundation,  "Technology and Education Reform" By Barbara Means, Kerry Olson and SRI International
The book addresses the question of whether technology can provide significant support for constructivist, project-based teaching and learning approaches
and the associated issue of the elements needed for an effective implementation of technology within an educational reform context. Includes case studies of 9 sites that have been using technology in ways that enhance a restructuring of the classroom around students' needs and project-based activities. Sites selected were those that emphasized education reform and provided challenging, authentic activities for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

POESÍA A LEON FOUNDATION

¡BENDICIONES!

A poetic gesture from twelve students who attend Juan Pablo II

The link below will show you the beautiful thank you's we at the Leon Foundation recieved a short time ago. These kind gestures were given to us from twelve students in fourth and filth grade, who attend Juan Pablo II in Lima, Peru. These twelve students were selected out of seventy for the 2012 investigation project "Salud y Medio Ambiente" or "Health and Environment." These very thoughtful and bright young children took free time out of their days to acknowledge the Leon Foundation. The beautiful works of art that lie in the link below were created on the computers that the Leon Foundation donated in 2011. I hope all of you enjoy these wonderful messages as much as we did.
On behalf of everyone at the Leon Foundation, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your creative and thoughtful displays of your appreciation!
